Accessibility
Paw Carnet should work for everyone who looks after a pet, however they use a phone or a computer.
What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We have not yet had the site audited by an outside specialist, so this is our own assessment, not a certificate.
What is built in
- A Skip to the main content link is the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page, and every control shows a visible focus ring.
- Buttons and links in menus and lists are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Text and its background meet a contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 in both the light and the dark theme; a test checks every colour pair on each build.
- Pages are laid out for a phone's width first, and wide tables scroll inside their own box rather than pushing the page sideways.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, animations and smooth scrolling stop.
- Fonts are served from this site, and pages stay readable while they load.
Rules every screen follows
- Status is never shown by colour alone: a coloured mark always has words beside it.
- Every chart comes with a table of the same numbers.
How it is tested
Automated tests drive the site in Chromium (the engine of Chrome, Edge and Android browsers) and in WebKit (the engine of Safari) on phone and desktop sizes. Other browsers should work but are not part of that test run.
What is not right yet
- The site has not yet been tested with screen-reader users; we have tested only with automated checks.
- Calendar files and printed pages depend on your calendar app and printer, which we cannot test for every combination.
Tell us
If something does not work for you, write to support@pawcarnet.com. Say which page, what you were trying to do and, if you can, which device and assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within 5 working days, and if we cannot fix it quickly we will help you get what you need another way. You can also see other ways to contact us.
