Short answers about accounts, reminders, your pets' records and what Paw Carnet can and cannot do.

Common questions

Do I need an account to use the vaccine schedules or the travel tables?

No. The puppy and kitten schedules, the travel step tables, the care guides and the emergency page all work without an account, and what you type into them stays on your device. You can copy a plan as text, add it to your calendar or print it without signing in.

Why does saving a pet need an account?

So the record is there on every device you use and so we can send reminder e-mails, which need an address we know is yours. If you prefer not to sign in, use Copy or Add to calendar and keep the plan yourself.

How do I sign in?

With Google, or with a sign-in link we e-mail you. The link works once, for 15 minutes, in the browser where you asked for it. An account made with Google and one made with an e-mailed link are separate accounts, even for the same address, so use the same way each time.

How old do I have to be?

16 or older. Before your first account is created we ask the year you were born. If you are younger, we stop there and store nothing.

Is Paw Carnet free?

Yes. Pro isn't open yet. Pressing a Pro button tells us you'd want it. Nothing is charged, and no card is asked for. If we introduce paid plans, nothing is ever charged without your confirmation.

Are the dates in the vaccine schedule the dates my pet must be vaccinated?

No. The schedule shows the windows that published vaccination guidelines recommend for a puppy or kitten of that age. Your vet sets the actual dates, and may change them for your pet's health, the vaccine used or local rules such as rabies law.

Is my Paw Carnet record a pet passport or a health certificate?

No. It is a record you keep for yourself. Only the document your vet or the authority issues counts at a border, a kennel or a clinic. Keep the original, and use Paw Carnet to remember its dates.

How do the travel step tables work, and who decides?

Each step comes from an official source, which is linked beside it with the date we last checked it. If you enter a travel date, the table shows the last day for each step. A step we have not rechecked in time is marked as possibly out of date and leaves the table. The destination authority always decides; check with it and your vet before you travel.

When do reminder e-mails arrive?

30 days before a vaccination's valid-until date, 7 days before, and on the day, plus when a puppy or kitten vaccine window opens. They arrive in the morning in your time zone. Every reminder e-mail has a one-click unsubscribe.

I did not get a reminder e-mail. What should I check?

Look in your spam or promotions folder first. If a message to your address bounced, your account shows a note asking you to check it. Adding your reminders to your calendar as well gives you a second copy that does not depend on e-mail.

Why did my calendar not alert me?

Some calendar apps ignore the alarm inside a calendar file they import. After you add a reminder, open it in your calendar and check that an alert is set; if not, add one there.

Can I keep records for several pets, or for animals other than dogs and cats?

Yes, as many pets as you like, of any species. The vaccine schedules are for puppies and kittens only; for other animals you type the dates your vet gives you.

How do I download my records?

Sign in, open your account page and choose Download my data. You get one file with your account, your household settings, your pets and their records, your reminders and any Pro wishes you recorded.

How do I delete a pet or my account?

A pet: open it in the app and choose Delete. Your whole account: on your account page, choose Delete my account. Either is removed from our live database at once. Backups roll off within 35 days. If we ever restore one, we delete again every account deleted since, before it goes live; a pet you deleted in those 35 days could reappear, and you can delete it again.

Can I store my own medical documents, such as an emotional-support-animal letter?

No. Documents about your own health, including emotional-support-animal letters, service or assistance dog papers and your own prescriptions, are not supported. Please do not enter or send them.

I found a mistake in a schedule, a rule or a guide. What happens if I tell you?

Write to support@pawcarnet.com with the page and what you think is wrong. We check it against the source, fix it if it is wrong, and log the change with its date on the corrections page.
